This is because if you want to do a course at university based in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) you might possibly need a good foundation in science to make your studies easier.

Good science teaching doesn’t just teach you some facts and information. It should make you able to look at a problem and solve it, to find out new information and make sure that it’s true. It should teach you to be able to explain a problem to somebody and talk about complicated ideas. Doing experiments teaches you to look at things around you and ask questions, and doing proper research teaches you how to manage your time.
