To me, the most interesting (and coolest – hahaha 😛 ) thing in the lab are our -80°C freezers. We use them for long-term storage of bacteria – they’re really hardy and can be recovered after being frozen down at these temperatures, even for a long time!
Also, whenever I go and open them I always feel like a proper sciencey scientist, as they’re so cold that as soon as you open the big door, all those clouds of condensation come rolling out (as you can see at the bottom of the picture) ❄️

Its a great bit of equipment that can modify and change its air contents but modifying the Nitrogen, Carbon dioxide, oxygen and Hydrogen avaliable (most of the time its air content is 5% Oxygen, 2%Hydrogen, 10% Carbon dioxide and 83% Nitrogen!). They main purpose of this device is to grow certian types of bacteria that cant grow in our usual air (the oxygen is toxic to them and kills them really really fast!). And yes you have to stick your hands in those glove things to interact with the inside chamber (feels very Sci-fi!) :P.
