Question: does dark matter burst out and give people super powers like in the comics when you run the particle accelorator?

I wish! Dark matter is a hypothesized concept that makes up for some errors in the way we calculate the movement of solar systems and galaxies. While there are attempts to detect dark matter in very large accelerators like the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) at CERN, the accelerator I work on is much much smaller and less energetic than the LHC (the beams at the LHC are a million times more energetic than mine!).

Also, dark matter doesn’t interact with regular matter, so it’s very unlikely it could give anyone superpowers 😉
