• Question: do you think that if someone invented a "teleportation device" how do you think it would work (in general) and if once you had teleported it would be a clone of yourself or not? I would love to hear your ideas.

I don’t think a teleportation device can be invented 🙂 the closest thing for the near future would probably be scanning objects, sending them over to a different 3d printer somewhere and then replicating them – which obviously wouldn’t work for humans.
      .
Just as a thought experiment though, if someone were to invent an actual teleportation device, it could work by ‘disassembling’ the particles that make something in one point and ‘assembling’ it again from particles present at the second point? Sort of a super-complicated scanner at the first point knowing exactly what state what particle is in while breaking them down and something at the second spot that can replicate all that. If it were to be like this, then you would be sort of a ‘clone’ after teleporting because you’re not made up of your original particles anymore – but the original would be gone so you’d be the only one!

I have no clue if it will happen. My guess of what would still be within the laws of physics would have to be something that “replicates” things. So you know what makes something up in the first place, and you reassemble those atoms on the other side (difficulty being knowing exactly what atoms are there and how you can reconstruct them! We would also need to learn more about how the brain works – identical twins still have different personalities!). I guess that would mean you have a clone. You could fake teleportation by destroying the original one, but I think the original one might be a bit upset!

But I don’t think this would ever actually happen!
