      That’s one I couldn’t answer! If you’re religious, it’s because the universe was created as such (side note – there absolutely are religious scientists! My best friend being one!). If you’re not religious, pure fluke. The rocks in space and stars collided and exploded such that we have a planet at a good temperature, cells coming together, DNA randomly existing, and evolution being a consequence of that, that given the right set of lucky conditions life as we know it exists. Pretty unlikely I know, but remember that space is MASSIVE, and the chance of life is not absolute 0!
