      According to the Met Office (one of the biggest weather forecasters in the UK), it’s to do with the colour of light of the sun. Sunlight is white – that the sky looks like it’s blue is because light is a wave, the atmosphere changes that wavelength, and the colour depends on the wavelength. But clouds don’t change the wavelength of the light, so they appear as the original colour of the sun – white!
